Licence Plate Numbering
With
Principal Systems' Warehouse Management Sytems and Supply Chain Solutions each item that enters the warehouse
is assigned a Unique Reference/Licence Plate
Number (LPN), affixed to a handling unit
(usually a pallet or a case) of a product.
A
license plate identifies the unit and contents in
the system for eternity and is established by collecting
the license plate number and all information to
be associated with it such as part number,
quantity, dates, lot numbers, etc.
Once
established, all attribute information regarding
the license plate can be discerned throughout all
warehouse processes by simply scanning the license
plate label.
This
greatly reduces the need for scanning
while achieving full traceability of relevant information.
The license plate number can be generated by the
system or can be pre-printed on a label or card
for use with in the system.
If
your vendor has supplied license plate information
scanning the pallet license plate will automatically
receive all the items on the pallet.
